Recipe News: Chicken Stroganoff

"Sharon Skarbek from Bend, Ore., was looking for a recipe to make Chicken Stroganoff. She had misplaced a recipe she had for the dish which came from a package of frozen chicken breast from Trader Joe's. She said she called the market chain but was informed that they no longer had the recipe. Since I did not receive any reader responses to her query and because I know people are always interested in new and different ways to use chicken, I thought this one was worth investigating." Includes recipe for:
  • Chicken Stroganoff

Recipe News: Bake a pie for Thanksgiving dinner

"While pumpkin pie has long been a traditional part of Thanksgiving dinner, I thought it might be fun to shake things up with something different.
In my recent column, From the Kitchen, I asked readers to submit recipes for something different for Thanksgiving dinner. They not only shared recipes, but one shared a special memory connected with her recipe and another suggested a perfect topping for her pie. One is a combination of two recipes and still another includes molasses that adds to its sweetness.
Rather than take up any more space talking about the recipes I received, I'll simply say thank you to everyone who shared and let you get on with reading these yummy-sounding choices."

Includes recipe for:

  • Wet Bottom Shoo-Fly Pie

  • Pecan pie

  • Cran-apple peach pie

  • Grandmother's Apple Pie

  • Apple Shoo-fly Pie

  • Lemon meringue pie

Recipe News: Quick Banana Coffee Cake Streusel Muffin

"If I'm going to bother to bake something, it had better be good.

And it needs to be easy and create as little mess as possible. If it also could combine the toasty, warm, cinnamony flavors of my favorite baked goods — banana bread, coffee cake and streusel toppings — the chances of me actually cranking up the oven increase dramatically.

Thus was the inspiration for these muffins, which are made entirely in the food processor, call for no unusual ingredients, come together in about 10 minutes, bake in just about 20 minutes, and have a flavor that will make you want to eat until your stomach hurts."

Includes recipe for:

  • Quick Banana Coffee Cake Streusel Muffin
