Wine News: Selecting the Perfect Red Wine

"There are more than 8,000 different grape varieties in the world, but there are only a few hundred or so that are of interest to wine makers and wine lovers. Since this topic is selecting the “perfect” red wine, I will list just a few of the more recognizable red grapes... Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Malbec, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Syrah, Tempranillo and Zinfandel.

I can spend years writing about just this handful, but I am not going to bore you with the technical details. Instead, I want to express in more general terms ways in which you can select a bottle of red wine and come close to something that you will genuinely like and probably buy again.
