Food News: 'Queer Eye's' favorite foodie shares recipes for success

"Ted Allen is all about great taste. His title as food and wine connoisseur on the Emmy-winning show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" proves that.
But instead of turning the Average Joe into Mr. Don Juan, he may turn the average cook into Emeril. "I want to inspire people kind of the same way we do on 'Queer Eye,'" Allen said via telephone while on location in New York for the show.

"We take a guy who only eats at McDonald's but has some interest in food and determine what he's into - take him up a notch - and try to teach him something new."

With his new book, "The Food You Want To Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes" released last October, Allen will visit Peppertree Bookstore in Palm Springs on Saturday to give new and avid cooks exactly what they crave.

"The idea is to cook something you want to eat," he says."
