Wine News: A beginner's guide to wine tasting

"Wine tasting what was once considered a pastime for the rich with excessive amounts of leisure time has become a hobby everyone can enjoy.
Jennifer Noël, owner of NoëlsWine Shoppe on the Skyway in Fir Street Gallery, considers herself a beginner in the wine tasting realm.

But she does know the overruling factor for all wine tasters, from beginners to experienced mouth swishers.

A lot of it is a person's own taste, Noël said.

Brenda McLaughlin, co-owner of Creekside Cellars in Chico, couldn't agree more.

McLaughlin teaches several classes on wine tasting through Butte College Community Education.

In one of the first classes, she teaches her students to identify the different elements of wine by doing taste tests on & tea?"
