Wine News: 2006 looks to be a good year for wine

"Purse dogs never should have happened. Or mullets or gas-guzzling SUVs, for that matter. Some trends shouldn’t see the light of day. Others still come full circle, such as boxed wine and screw caps, which the second time around are now deemed acceptable.

Where has Sutter Home’s "wine cube" been all these years? Low-grade bulk wine has been here, but not good, drinkable, everyday wines.

This is but one trend to watch for in 2006, a year that should be marked by good wines, inn ovation and improvements throughout the wine world. Haute grape varieties and emerging winegrowing regions will also make headlines. Here are a few topics that will spur wine conversation in 2006."
