Food News: Study: Home-cooked meals recipe for slimmer kids
"If you're trying to keep your child slim, home-cooked meals may be the best defense.
A study to be published tomorrow in the journal Pediatrics reveals children who are regulars at the dinner table have better eating habits than those who chow down on the road.
``They were drinking more soda. They were eating less fruits and vegetables. They were drinking less low-fat dairy,'' said Dr. Elsie Taveras of children who eat fried foods on the go. She is the study's lead author and director of the childhood obesity prevention program ``One Step Ahead'' at Children's Hospital in Boston. "
